Paper records can contain information that helps identity thieves.

What to do

  1. Store sensitive documents in a safe place.
  2. Do not leave them visible or unattended.
  3. Shred sensitive paperwork before discarding it.

This includes government identity documents, tax records, passports, birth certificates, and account records.
